Who the app is for
Guju Guru helps families practise Gujarati. A parent or guardian should create and manage the account and supervise children’s use. Use a nickname for the learner. We do not ask for a child’s birth date or precise location. A parent challenge protects purchases and account data controls; it is not identity or age verification.
Information we use
Account information includes email and the name or avatar returned by your chosen login provider. We store a learner nickname, app avatar, lesson progress, XP, streaks, achievements, friend connections, optional feedback, and subscription status. Network requests also involve IP addresses and technical service logs. We use this information to provide the app, save progress, authenticate access, handle purchases, and respond to support requests.
Optional speaking practice
Before speaking practice, we explain speech processing and ask your permission. On iOS, microphone audio may be sent to Apple Speech Recognition. Android uses the device’s speech recognition provider, usually Google; the web version uses the browser’s provider. These providers may process audio on their servers under their privacy terms. The resulting transcript is used in the app to check the current answer. Guju Guru does not store raw recordings or transcripts on its servers, use them for advertising, or train its own AI models with them. You may skip speaking questions. Withdraw consent under Profile → Account & data and disable microphone access in device settings.
Services that process information
Supabase provides account authentication and database storage. Vercel hosts the app and API. Apple or Google provides the login you select. RevenueCat and the relevant app store handle subscription identifiers, receipts and entitlement status; Guju Guru does not receive your payment card details. Resend delivers account or support emails. Google Cloud Text-to-Speech receives predefined Gujarati lesson text to generate pronunciation audio, not microphone recordings. No third-party product analytics or advertising SDK is enabled in this release.
Sharing and social features
We do not sell personal information or show advertising. Friend connections use invitation codes and show learner nicknames, app avatars and scores to accepted friends. The public leaderboard uses generated learner labels, avatars and scores. There is no open chat, public posting, or photo sharing. Please do not include a child’s full name or private information in a nickname or feedback.
Access, correction and deletion
Parents can change the nickname and avatar in Profile. Profile → Account & data lets you view or download account and learning data, withdraw speech consent, and permanently delete the account. Deletion removes the account, learning profiles, progress, achievements, friend connections, push subscriptions and feedback from the active app database. Deleting the app alone does not delete the account. Account deletion does not cancel a store subscription: cancel it in App Store or Google Play subscription settings. If you used Apple login, also remove Guju Guru from your Apple Account’s Sign in with Apple settings. Store transaction records and provider backups may remain subject to those providers’ retention requirements. Contact us for help with provider-held information.
Retention and contact
We retain active account and progress information until you delete the account. We do not retain practice audio or transcripts on our servers. Technical logs, backups and store transaction records follow the relevant service provider’s retention settings. For privacy questions or deletion help, email hemanshu.mehta@gmail.com.
