We're Guju Guru, an app that teaches Gujarati to children. We collect the bare minimum needed to run the app: a parent email, a child's first name and age range, lesson progress, and (only when your child taps the mic) short voice clips that we use locally to score pronunciation. We do not sell data, show ads, or use voice recordings to train AI models. We comply with COPPA in the United States and GDPR-K in the European Union and UK.

Subscription status from Apple App Store or Google Play, via RevenueCat
Country and language (to localize content)
From the child profile
First name only — no last name, no birthday, no school

Lesson progress, XP, streak, and quiz answers
Short voice recordings during the speak exercises (see section 6)

Diagnostic events — which lesson opened, which screen, time spent. Never tied to any identifier we can resolve to a person.
We do not use third-party advertising SDKs. We do not use cookies or trackers on the website beyond the strictly-necessary ones for our pricing toggle to work.
3. How we use information
To deliver lessons, save progress, and remember your subscription
To send the optional weekly parent report
To respond when you write to us
To diagnose and fix bugs, anonymously
To improve content (e.g. if 80% of kids stumble on Lesson 3.4, we make Lesson 3.4 better)
4. Who we share information with
We share data only with these vendors, only as necessary, and only under contracts that prohibit using the data for their own purposes:
Apple & Google — to deliver the app and process subscription payments
RevenueCat — to manage subscription state across iOS and Android
AWS (eu-west-2 and us-east-1) — to host our servers
Postmark — to deliver transactional emails to parents
We will never sell your data, your child's data, or voice recordings to anyone. Period.
5. Children's privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K)
Guju Guru is designed for kids and follows U.S. COPPA and EU/UK GDPR-K rules:
A parent or guardian must create the account and verify their email before any child profile is set up.
We collect the minimum information needed to teach a lesson — first name, age range, and progress.
We do not allow open chat, friend requests, comments, photo sharing, or links to external sites from inside the app.
We do not target advertising to children. We don't show advertising at all.
Parents can review, export, or delete a child's data at any time from Settings → Parent → Data in the app, or by emailing hemanshu.mehta@gmail.com.
6. Voice recordings
When your child taps the mic to practice pronunciation:
We capture a recording up to 5 seconds long.
We send it to our pronunciation engine to score it.
We delete the recording within 30 days.
We do not associate it with your child's name in storage — only an opaque session ID.
We do not use these recordings to train any AI or machine learning models.
You can disable speaking practice entirely in Settings → Parent → Mic access.
7. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can:
See what data we have on you and your child
Export it as JSON or CSV
Correct anything that's wrong
Delete your account and all child profiles permanently
